A Special In-House Event with Yoga Schelter
Time: 5:30 pm
On Thursday May 21, 2009 Rittenhouse Women's Wellness Center will be teaming up with Jennifer Schelter, Executive Director of Yoga Schelter, for a very special evening of wine tasting and hors d'oeuvres. Dr. Leslie Saltzman, Medical Director, will present an overview of the center for all women in attendance. Jennifer Schelter will present "Beyond Stress: The Joy of Being Relaxed." This will explain and be an introduction for a six (6) week program that she will be offering on Thursday nights from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm at the Rittenhouse Women's Wellness Center beginning June 4th. Beyond Stress: The Joy of Being Relaxed
1 hour 15 minute class - once a week on Thursday nights for six weeks starting at 6:00 pm on June 4th.
A mindfulness and meditation program builds the skills for individuals to see how their mind-works, witnessing not wasting energy reacting, creating a distinction between belief vs. emotion and stimulating an empowered sense of being.
Beyond Stress is an empowering mind frame cultivated by the practice of:
- Identifying how the mind craves, and chases thought after thought.
- Being aware of the 3 major stress triggers
- A safe and comfortable place to make relaxation the new "Normal"
- Make creative visualization, self-talk, affirmation and daily awareness real
- Trust and inner- awareness for listening to one's needs

Jennifer Schelter - Biography
Called a "Real Goddess" by the Philadelphia Inquirer, and "Best Yoga Instructor of 2007" by PhillyFit Magazine, Jennifer C. Schelter is a world class inspirational teacher, life coach, writer/actress and humanitarian.
Jennifer is the founder and artistic director of "Yoga Schelter" the premier yoga studio in the East Falls sections of Philadelphia and creator of "Yoga Unites" a non-profit that promotes yoga, meditation and writing as tools for raising the quality of the mind-body-spirit connection for transformation, conflict-resolution and self-awareness. She is known for leading over 500 people annually at "Yoga Unites for Living Beyond Breast Cancer" on the Philadelphia Art Museum steps.
She is the producer of "am awake" an audio yoga CD and DVD, "The Art of Vinyasa Yoga". She leads International Yoga Retreats to Maya Tulum, Mexico and the Annapurna range of Nepal.
After graduating from Germantown Friends School, she attended Philadelphia College of Art and University of Syracuse in Florence, Italy. She graduated from Connecticut College with a Bachelor of Arts in Art History and Oil Painting and the University of San Diego/Old Globe Theatre Program with a Masters in Theatre.
She loves Philadelphia, swimming in the ocean, great food and conversation and the sound of crickets.
